There is an abundance of stainless steel, flat bars, and deformed bars in the Philippines. Numerous companies distribute these products to various hardware stores and construction companies in the country. However, out of the three, stainless steel is probably one of the most utilized materials in constructions. It is used in many parts of the world to build different structures and devices; get to know this famous steel material.

Stainless steel

The word stainless was used in the early years of developing diverse kinds of metals used for cutlery applications. From then on until now, it is used as a generic name for steels that have other steel types and oxidation resistant procedures. Stainless steel is a type of metal made out of iron with about 10.5% of chromium. Different types of metals can also be combined to stainless steels – like molybdenum, titanium manganese, and nickel – to create materials with better quality. The combination of chromium and these metals help give this type of steel corrosion, as well as heat and cold resistant properties. Its nonmetal add-ons are usually carbon and nitrogen. The final product will depend on the materials that were combined with it and how it will be further used.

Why is stainless steel is rustproof?

Chromium is a material that keeps stainless steel from rusting due to its low carbon content, especially in comparison with other alloys. Combined with environmental oxygen, it produces a thin film on the external body of the stainless steel. In result, there is no iron is oxidized, thus, no rust.

Different grades of stainless steels:

Stainless steel is one of the most used materials in the world since it serves many purposes, thanks to its malleability and convenience. It is seen and used in our daily lives to construct establishments, basic household tools, and other mediums of transportation.
